Having a baby comes with plenty to plan for. Knowing your hospital bills do not make a dent on your finances brings peace of mind and lets you focus on giving your newborn the right start they deserve.
The MediSave Maternity Package (MMP) provide an option for you to tap on the MediSave savings you and your spouse have built up through your working years to pay for pre-delivery consultations, the delivery itself, and the hospital stay, so you can have more cash in hand.
Here’s what the package covers, how much you can claim, and how the process works from your first scan to the discharge bill.
What is the MediSave Maternity Package?
Each month, you contribute between 8% and 10.5% of your monthly salary to your MediSave Account. This helps pay for a variety of medical expenses, including outpatient treatments, hospitalisation, long-term care, and insurance premiums.
MediSave withdrawal limits are carefully set so that Singaporeans have sufficient savings in their MediSave Account for their basic healthcare needs in old age, while still covering most charges incurred at subsidised inpatient wards and certain outpatient treatments.
Under the MMP, you can use MediSave for three categories of expenses:
· Pre-delivery medical care
· Delivery procedure
· Daily hospital charges for the hospital stay
There’s no need to tap on MediSave for every category. If you would rather not use MediSave for pre-delivery expenses, you can simply use MediSave for the delivery procedure and daily hospital charges instead.
How much you can withdraw under the MediSave Maternity Package

The amount you can claim under the MediSave Maternity Package depends on the type of delivery procedure.
Pre-delivery expenses
A withdrawal limit of up to $900 applies to pre-delivery medical expenses, which can be paid using your MediSave Account or your spouse’s. This covers consultations, ultrasound scans, tests, and medications.
Delivery
The withdrawal limit for the delivery procedure itself ranges from $1,120 to $2,770, depending on the complexity of the procedure. Refer to the table below for more information.
* The withdrawal limits under the MediSave Maternity Package include up to $900 for pre-delivery medical expenses.
Daily hospital charges for the hospital stay
Claim up to $1,130 per day for the first two days of admission, and up to $400 per day from the third day onwards. This applies to ward charges, treatment fees, investigations, and medicines during the hospital stay.
Who is eligible for the MediSave Maternity Package
The MMP applies to Singapore citizens and permanent residents who are using their own MediSave Account, or a spouse’s MediSave Account, to pay for maternity expenses at a MediSave-accredited hospital in Singapore.
It covers both public and private hospital deliveries, so your withdrawal limits stay the same whichever hospital you choose.
How to make a MediSave claim for the MediSave Maternity Package
For delivery and daily hospital charges, the hospital submits the MediSave claim on your behalf.
Pre-delivery expenses work a little differently if the hospital you visit for check-ups is not the same as the hospital handling the delivery.
After delivery, simply present the bills incurred for pre-delivery medical care to the hospital where the baby was delivered. The hospital will submit these bills, together with the delivery expenses, for MediSave claims under the MMP
Support for you and your newborn through government schemes
The MMP works alongside other forms of government support for growing families. For example, every Singapore Citizen newborn born on or after 1 April 2025 qualifies for the MediSave Grant for Newborns, which credits $5,000 directly into your child’s MediSave Account upon registration of birth, so you do not need to apply for it separately.
This helps parents manage their child’s healthcare expenses, such as MediShield Life premiums, recommended childhood vaccinations, hospitalisation, and approved outpatient treatments.
