Eligibility

Who can you use your MediSave for?

Caring for yourself and your loved ones

Besides paying for your own medical expenses, some schemes also allow you to use your MediSave for your approved dependants' medical expenses. 

 

Approved dependants refer to any of the following:

  • Spouse
  • Parent
  • Grandparent
  • Sibling
  • Child

They can be of any nationality, except for grandparents and siblings, who must be Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents.

Benefits

Hospitalisation or day surgery

There are several types of hospitalisation and day surgery expenses that you can pay for using your MediSave.     

 

Hospitalisation

For hospitalisation

You can use up to $550 per day for the first two days and $400 per day thereafter, for inpatient hospital charges1 which includes daily ward charges, daily treatment fees, investigations and medicines. 

 

Pay with: Your own or approved dependants’ MediSave

 

You can use up to $550 per day for the first two days and $150 per day thereafter, up to a maximum of $5,000 per year for inpatient psychiatric treatment2.

For day surgery

You can use up to $300 per day for hospital charges for day surgery, which include daily ward charges, daily treatment fees, investigations, and medicines.

 

Pay with: Your own or approved dependants’ MediSave

For surgery

You can use between $250 and $7,550, depending on the complexity of the surgery. The withdrawal limits are based on a fixed limit from the Table of Surgical Procedures (TOSP).

MediSave Maternity Package (MMP)

MediSave can be used for pre-delivery and delivery expenses.

Pay with: Self and spouse’s MediSave

Hospital charges

You can use up to $550 per day for the first two days of hospitalisation, $400 per day thereafter, for inpatient hospital charges, which includes daily ward charges, daily treatment fees, investigations, and medicines.

 

Delivery procedures

You can use up to: 

  • $750 for a natural delivery
  • $2,150 for a caesarean delivery
  • $2,600 for a complicated caesarean delivery     
Pre-delivery expenses

You can use up to $900 for pre-delivery expenses, including consultations, ultrasounds, tests, and medications.

 

To claim pre-delivery expenses from MediSave, present the bills incurred for pre-delivery medical care to the hospital where your baby was delivered.

MediSave Grant for Newborns (MGN)

The MGN helps to provide parents with greater peace of mind and support for their children's healthcare needs.

Pay with: Self and spouse’s MediSave

How it can help

All Singapore Citizen newborns1 qualify for the MediSave Grant for Newborns of $4,000. A CPF MediSave account will be opened for each newborn, and the grant will be credited automatically.

 

This helps parents manage their child's healthcare expenses, such as MediShield Life premiums, recommended childhood vaccinations, hospitalisation, and approved outpatient treatments.

1 If the child is not a Singapore Citizen at birth, the MGN amount will depend on the date that the child becomes a Singapore citizen.
