The Central Provident Fund (CPF) Board and MoneySense are expanding their annual retirement planning campaign to engage Singaporeans aged 20 to 54, reaching those aged 20 to 34 for the first time. Its flagship outreach event, the Ready For Life Festival, will also expand from a one-day event to three roadshows in October and November. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Energy, Trade and Industry (Trade) Gan Kim Yong attended the first roadshow at Compass One on 17 October as Guest-of-Honour.

Supporting younger Singaporeans to plan ahead

With competing financial priorities, retirement planning may not feel urgent to younger Singaporeans. Through the campaign, CPF Board and MoneySense aim to highlight the benefits of starting early. A longer planning horizon gives younger members more time to grow their savings through compounding and greater flexibility to achieve their retirement goals.

From 21 September to 13 December 2026, the campaign brings practical retirement and financial planning information, tools and activities closer to Singaporeans, which they can access at cpf.gov.sg/EasierWithCPF. Anchored by the campaign tagline ‘It’s easier with CPF’, the idea is to help Singaporeans see how their first or next step to planning ahead can be simpler and more manageable with CPF.

Ms Peh Er Yan, Group Director (Communications & Engagement Group) at CPF Board, said, “Retirement planning often feels distant when you are starting out, but small steps taken earlier can make a meaningful difference over time. By helping Singaporeans picture their desired retirement lifestyle, understand what it may cost and take practical steps early, we hope to give them greater confidence and more options to plan for the retirement they want.”

Strong interest in saving for retirement

There is strong interest among Singaporeans in building their retirement savings, including through voluntary top-ups. For the first three quarters of 2026, more than 370,000 members made voluntary top-ups to their retirement savings1 totalling over $6 billion, including about 82,000 who did so for the first time. The number of members making top-ups for the first three quarters this year was around one-and-a-half times the figure over the same period two years ago.

Over the same period, about 173,000 eligible members received cash top-ups under the Matched Retirement Savings Scheme, which will qualify for dollar-for-dollar matching grants of up to $2,000 per recipient from the Government, to be credited in early 2027.

Turning retirement planning into an engaging, lifestyle experience

Curated with younger audiences in mind, the Ready For Life Festival will comprise four interactive zones featuring larger-than-life café and breakfast-inspired installations. Through hands-on activities, visitors can picture their desired retirement, explore ways to strengthen their financial future, and learn about relevant CPF tools and resources to help them plan. Visitors can also collect exclusive event charms to create a commemorative keepsake. Festival details are in Annex A.

Featured resources include:

  • The Retirement Payout Planner, which has been recently enhanced to make retirement planning easier with bite-sized steps and personalised suggestions to bring members closer to their retirement goal. More details on the planner are in Annex B.
  • The updated MoneySense Basic Financial Planning Guide, “Your Financial Basics”, also provides practical guidance on savings, insurance and investments at different life stages, including for youths and students. The guide was developed by MAS, in collaboration with public sector agencies as well as private sector industry bodies and complements CPF’s retirement-planning tools by helping Singaporeans identify gaps in their finances and take steps towards their longer-term goals. The guide is available at go.gov.sg/yfb.

CPF Board will also launch “The Singaporean Dream: CPF Edition” card game at the Ready For Life Festival. Adapted from the original family-friendly card game, the CPF Edition uses familiar gameplay to help Singaporeans understand how CPF supports them across different life stages and financial milestones, from building retirement savings to receiving payouts and safeguard their savings. The game will be also available at selected community centres from December 2026. More details on the game are in Annex C.
