The Central Provident Fund Board (the “Board”) is organising a “What’s one memorable act of kindness you have received?” Facebook Contest (the “Contest”). By submitting an entry for the Contest, you are deemed to have read, understood, and agreed to abide by the Terms & Conditions for the Contest set out below.

 

 

TERMS & CONDITIONS

 

1. The Contest is organised by the Board and is managed and moderated by the Board’s appointed agent through the Board’s Facebook page. Any other references to the “Board” hereinafter shall include the Central Provident Fund Board constituted under the Central Provident Fund Act (Chapter 36) and its servants and agents and any officer authorized by the Board to act on its behalf.

 

2. There is only one category for the Contest.

 

 

Contest Period

 

3. Participants may begin submitting entries for the Contest starting from 29 May 2022, 11:00am once the Contest Post is published on the Board’s Facebook page (the “Contest Post”).

 

4. Entries will be accepted for consideration up until 12 June 2022, 11:59pm (the “Submission Period”). The Board will make a closing comment on the Contest Post at the end of the Submission Period. Any entries submitted before or after the Submission Period will not be considered for the Contest.

 

 

Contest Mechanics

 

5. To enter the Contest, a participant (the “Participant”) is required to like the Contest Post, follow CPF Board’s Facebook page and submit his/her response as a comment (“Entry”) via the comments field of the Contest Post. Entries submitted elsewhere or through other means or on posts other than the Contest Post will not be considered for the Contest.

 

6. The Entry should consist of one memorable act of kindness they have received, as well as a short description of it. Only entries with a valid act of kindness and a valid description will be considered. The Board reserves the right to decide whether or not the Entry is valid to be considered eligible for a Prize.

 

7. Only one Entry per Participant will be considered, regardless of the number of Entries or Facebook profiles used by the Participant to enter the Contest. Where a Participant submits multiple Entries, the Board is only obliged to consider the 1st Entry submitted for the Contest.

 

 

Prizes

 

8. Three (3) eligible entries will be selected as the winners (the “Winners”). The three (3) Winners will each receive $20 in food-delivery vouchers, a Singa tote bag and a water bottle set (the “Prize”). The Board reserves the right to forfeit the Prizes if there are no Winners.

 

9. Winners will be contacted via Private Message on Facebook and will be asked for their full names, email addresses, contact numbers and residential address (“Personal Information”). Thereafter, Winners will be contacted via email to obtain the digital codes for their food-delivery vouchers and Singa merchandise. If any Winner does not reply with his/her Personal Information within five (5) working days from the date the Private Message is sent, the Board reserves the right to award the Prize to another Participant. The Winner affirms the accuracy of all Personal Information provided to the Board via Private Message. Any misrepresentation of any fact or particulars shall result in disqualification and/or the forfeiture, withholding, withdrawal or reclaiming of any Prizes won. Please refer to the section on Personal Data and Privacy Policy below for details on the usage of Personal Information.

 

10. The Board will email the Prize to the email addresses provided by the Winners. Winners are required to reply to the email, which contains the digital codes, with their acknowledgement. The codes will be valid for six (6) months from the start date.

 

11. The Board reserves the right to substitute or replace the Prizes with any other items of similar value without prior notice.

 

12. The Board’s decision in selecting Winners and determining the Prizes is final and no enquiries or appeals, whether verbal or written, shall be entertained.

 

13. The Board is not responsible for any defects in the Prizes. The Board will not entertain any requests from the Winners to exchange, replace or negotiate on the Prizes awarded.

 

14. The Board reserves the right to disqualify any Participant who fails to comply with any of these Terms & Conditions, or Facebook’s applicable terms and conditions, policies or guidelines.

 

15. Notwithstanding anything in these Terms & Conditions, the Board reserves the right at any time, in its absolute discretion, to determine and/or amend, by addition to, subtraction from or variation of, these Terms & Conditions without prior notification.

A. Eligibility Criteria

 

1. All residents of Singapore are eligible to participate in the Contest, except employees of the Board and its promotional or advertising agencies or their respective affiliates, their immediate family members and any parties involved in the administration and execution of this Contest, and all past winners under CPF’s Facebook Contests. For the purpose of this Contest, an individual is considered a Singapore resident if he/she is:

 

        A Singapore citizen or permanent resident, residing in Singapore; or

        A non-Singapore citizen/permanent resident who is staying/working in Singapore with a valid student pass/employment pass/dependent pass/work permit.

 

B. Entry Submission

 

2. Any Entry that contains material that the Board deems offensive or irrelevant is subject to immediate disqualification and deletion. The Board’s decision on whether a comment is considered offensive or irrelevant is final. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Vulgarities, profanities and obscenities, redacted or in full;
  • Defamatory or libellous content;
  • Spam, known to be inaccurate, or contains a false attribution;
  • Comments which are trolling or disruptive to discussions;
  • Comments and content that encourage criminal acts;
  • Abusive, harassing or threatening comments;
  • Soliciting funds, goods or services or advertisements;
  • Content which may infringe copyrights, trademarks or any other rights of third parties;
  • Racist, sexist and/or other discriminatory content; or
  • Content that violates any of these Terms & Conditions, or Facebook’s terms, conditions, policies or guidelines.

 

C. Personal Data and Privacy Policy

 

3. By participating in the Contest and/or providing any information in relation to himself/herself in relation to the Contest, including but not limited to “personal data” as defined under the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (“Personal Information”) to the Board through any means:

  • Each Winner consents to the collection by the Board of such Personal Information relating to him/her for verification purposes during the redemption of the Prize;
  • Winners further consent to the Board storing Personal Information relating to him/her to account for the Prizes given out. The Board is the party collecting such Personal Information and disclosing such Personal Information to the Board’s auditors to account for the Prizes given out and to ensure that the Prizes have been properly awarded. 

 

4. Participants also consent to the Board recording, storing and publishing any of the activities relating to the Contest (including but not limited to photographs of the Participants or names of the Winners) for broadcast, publicity and promotional purposes without any remuneration. Participants agree that the Board owns the intellectual property rights to any such material recorded or published in the process. Email addresses, home addresses and any other contact information of Participants will not be publicly disclosed. 5. The Board is the party collecting the Personal Information and is not collecting it on behalf of Facebook. The Board is not responsible or liable for any access or collection of any Personal Information by Facebook.

 

 

D. Liabilities and Discretion of the Board

 

6. The Board shall not be liable for any and all losses, costs, expense or damages arising directly or indirectly in connection with the Contest, including but not limited to any unreadable, incomplete, mutilated, tampered or irregular entry, any breakdown or malfunction in any computer system or equipment and any notice or item (including the Prizes) which is misdirected or lost in the post, email and mail. 

 

7. Once the Board has emailed the Prizes to the Winners, the Board shall not be liable for:

  • Any cost incurred by the Winners in receiving or claiming the Prizes;
  • Any failure or inability by the Winners to receive the Prizes, howsoever caused, unless such failure or inability was directly caused by the Board; or
  • Any loss, damage, cost, expense or other liability arising directly or indirectly in relation to the Prizes.

Any and all applicable taxes on the Prizes are the sole responsibility of the Winners. 

 

8. If for any reason any aspect of the Contest is not capable of running as planned, including, but not limited to, by reason of infection by computer virus, network failure, bugs, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures or any cause beyond the reasonable control of the Board which corrupts or affects the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Contest, the Board may in its sole discretion cancel, terminate, modify or suspend this Contest, or invalidate any affected submissions. 

 

9. By entering this Contest, each Participant grants Facebook a complete release of liability. This Contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed by, administered by or associated with Facebook. By entering this Contest, you agree to release and hold harmless the Board and its affiliates, advertising and promotion agencies, partners, representatives, agents, successors, assigns, employees, officers and directors from any liability, illness, injury, death, loss, litigation, claim or damage that may occur, directly or indirectly, whether caused by negligence or not, from: (i) your participation in the Contest and/or your acceptance, possession, use or misuse of any prize or any portion thereof; (ii) technical failures of any kind, including but not limited to the malfunction of any computer, cable, network, hardware, or software, or other mechanical equipment; (iii) the unavailability or inaccessibility of any transmissions, telephone, or Internet service; (iv) unauthorized human intervention in any part of the entry process or the Contest; (v) electronic or human error in the administration of the Contest or the processing of entries. Further, you agree and understand that if any disputes cannot be resolved between the Board and you, the Participant -- that under no circumstances shall the Participant be permitted to obtain awards for, and hereby waives all rights to, punitive, incidental or consequential damages, including reasonable lawyers’ fees, other than the Participant’s actual out-of-pocket expenses (i.e. costs associated with entering this Contest). You, the Participant, further waives all rights to have damages multiplied or increased. 

 

10. By entering this Contest, you represent and warrant that your entry is an original work of authorship and does not violate any third party’s proprietary or intellectual property rights. If your entry infringes upon the intellectual property of another, you will be disqualified at the sole discretion of the Board. If the content of your entry is claimed to constitute infringement of any proprietary or intellectual proprietary rights of any third party, you shall, at your sole expense, defend or settle against such claims. You shall indemnify, defend and hold harmless the Board from and against any suit, proceeding claims, liability, loss, damage, costs or expense, which the Board may suffer, incurred or be required to pay arising out of such infringement or suspected infringement of any third party’s right.

 

 

E. Third Parties

 

11. A Person who is not a party to the Terms & Conditions shall have no right under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act (Cap. 53B) to enforce any of the Terms & Conditions.

 

 

F. Governing Laws

 

12. These Terms & Conditions and all its subsequent variations shall be subjected to, governed by and interpreted in accordance with the domestic Laws of the Republic of Singapore.

 

 

G. Others

 

13. In the event of any inconsistency between these Terms & Conditions, and any marketing or promotional materials relating to the Contest, these Terms & Conditions, and all its subsequent variations, shall prevail. 

 

14. The Board reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who tampers or attempts to tamper with the entry process or the operation of the Contest or website or violates these Terms & Conditions. The Board has the right, in its sole discretion, to maintain the integrity of the Contest, to void votes for any reason, including, but not limited to: multiple entries from the same user from different IP addresses; multiple entries from the same computer in excess of that allowed by Contest rules; or the use of bots, macros, scripts or other technical means for entering. Any attempt by an entrant to deliberately damage any website or undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest may be a violation of criminal and civil laws. Should such attempt be made, the Board reserves the right to seek damages to the fullest extent permitted by law.
