The CareShield Life Council has completed a comprehensive review of CareShield Life to ensure that the scheme remains relevant to Singaporeans in light of the changing long-term care landscape and rising long-term care costs. In particular, the Council has recommended changes to CareShield Life benefits, coverage and premiums to better support Singaporeans against potential long-term care costs.
On 27 August 2025, the Government announced that it accepted the Council’s recommendations in full. Premiums will need to increase to support the enhancements to CareShield Life. To help Singaporeans manage the premium increases, the Government will provide an additional $570 million in support on top of existing premium subsidies over the next five years. These changes will be implemented progressively from 1 January 2026.
