The Basic Healthcare Sum (BHS) is adjusted annually for cohorts below age 65 to ensure it remains relevant and keeps pace with rising healthcare consumption, especially with increasing healthcare costs and expansions in MediSave usage.
For each cohort, the BHS is fixed from age 65 onwards and remains the same for the rest of their lives. This helps members save adequately for their basic subsidised healthcare needs in old age, while providing certainty on the amount they need to set aside in their MediSave Account.
