If I do not have enough CPF savings to pay for my property, can I top up my CPF account with cash to make up the shortfall?
You have two options to resolve the shortfall:

  1. Pay directly to your financier: Consider paying the shortfall amount directly to your financier in cash. This is faster and ensures the full amount goes towards the payment.
  2. Make a voluntary CPF contribution: Alternatively, you can make a voluntary contribution to your CPF account. However, please be aware of these important considerations:
    • Voluntary contribution are subject to the CPF Annual Limit
    • The contribution will be automatically apportioned across your Ordinary, Special, and MediSave accounts based on CPF allocation rates
    • Only funds in your Ordinary Account can be used for housing repayments
This means that not all of your voluntary contribution may be available for property payments, as portions will go to your Special and MediSave accounts.
