Home Protection Scheme (HPS) premium rebates of $640 million will be distributed to over 760,000 CPF members in January 2020. The rebates arise from better than expected investment gains and lower than projected claims experience.

Eligible CPF members1 will receive the premium rebate in their CPF Ordinary Account, which can be used to pay for future HPS premiums and other CPF-approved schemes, such as housing and investment. About half of the eligible members are expected to receive $500 or more from this rebate exercise.

Eligible members will be notified of their rebate amount either through SMS, email or hardcopy letter from mid-January 2020. The rebate amount will also be reflected under the Transaction History Statement when members login at the CPF website using their SingPass.

The last rebate exercise was carried out in November 2015.

About the Home Protection Scheme

Home Protection Scheme (HPS) is a mortgage-reducing insurance scheme that protects CPF members and their families from losing their HDB flat in the event of death, terminal illness or total permanent disability. Members are covered for the period of the housing loan or until they reach the maximum cover age of 65, whichever is earlier.

Members must be insured under HPS if they use their CPF savings to pay for the monthly housing loan instalments of their HDB flats. Those who do not use their CPF savings to service their housing loans can also be protected under the HPS.

Eligible members refer to members who (i) are covered under HPS from 9 November 2015, (ii) are Singaporean/ Singapore Permanent Resident, (iii) have not passed away, and (iv) have not made a claim under medical ground.
