Which platform workers should receive CPF contributions

You are required to submit CPF contributions for all your platform workers, regardless of their age. You will need to know the opt-in status of your platform workers, to apply the right CPF contribution rates.

Who is a platform worker?

A platform worker is a worker who has an agreement with a platform operator to provide ride-hail or delivery services in Singapore and is subject to management control by the platform operator.

What happens when a platform worker opts in?

For platform workers born in 1995 or later, their CPF contribution rates will slowly increase to match that of employees. They will also receive the platform operator share of CPF contributions.

Platform workers born before 1995 may opt in to increased CPF contributions. Once opted in, they will have the same CPF contribution rates as platform workers born in 1995 or later. Platform workers can opt in at any time, as there is no deadline to do so. Opt-in is irreversible.

As CPF contribution rates depend on platform workers’ opt-in status, you will need to check your platform workers’ latest opt-in status before calculating their CPF contributions.

The monthly query with CPF Board via Secured File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) will inform you of the latest opt-in status of your platform workers. There is no need to include platform workers born in or after 1995 in the query, as it is mandatory for them to make the increased CPF contributions.

How to apply the right CPF contribution rates

You should ensure that you use the right CPF contribution rates for your platform workers, depending on their opt-in status.

If a platform worker (born before 1995) joins you after the monthly query, you should deduct their CPF contributions using the contribution rate for non-opt-in platform workers, until you have confirmed the platform worker’s opt-in status in the subsequent opt-in query.
