CPF Contribution for Employees

QHow do I make a Voluntary contribution (VC) to my CPF Account(s) or on behalf of someone else?
A

You can make Voluntary Contribution (VC) either to yourself or on behalf of someone else either to:

  1. all 3 CPF Accounts (non-tax deductible); or
  2. MediSave Account only (tax deductible* for recipient only).

VC is applicable to Singapore Citizens and Singapore Permanent Residents only.

You are encouraged to make VC early. All applications and payments should reach CPF Board before the last 7 working days of December to enjoy tax relief for the following year’s Tax Assessment and for it to be counted as the year’s CPF Annual Limit. Backdating of VC to previous years is not allowed.

You can refer to the service standards for processing of VC applications. Once the transaction is processed, you can view the status of your contributions via My Statement using your SingPass at cpf.gov.sg.

*Please note that there will be a personal income tax relief cap of $80,000, which will apply from Year of Assessment 2018. This cap applies to the total amount of all tax reliefs claimed, including any relief on voluntary contributions made on or after 1 January 2017. For non-self-employed person, only voluntary contribution to MediSave Account is tax deductible.

As accepted voluntary CPF contributions cannot be refunded, CPF members who make voluntary CPF contributions on or after 1 January 2017 should take note of the overall personal income tax relief cap. You should evaluate whether you would benefit from tax relief on your voluntary CPF contributions and make an informed decision accordingly.

You can refer to the frequently asked questions (PDF, 0.2MB) or Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore website for more information on the personal income tax relief cap.
