Why are only subsidised courses by the approved educational institutions included under the CPF Education Loan Scheme?
The CPF Education Loan Scheme is a loan scheme that allows CPF members to use their CPF savings to provide their children with a basic tertiary education. Only courses that are heavily subsidised by the Ministry of Education (MOE) are included under this loan scheme because the fees for such courses are significantly lower than unsubsidised courses. Hence, member's CPF savings for retirement is less likely to be affected should the student be unable to repay the loan.
