I am a bankrupt and I do not have monies to pay the MediShield Life premiums for my child/dependant and myself. Will there be interest and penalty imposed on me?

A claim will be filed with the Private Trustee or Official Assignee for outstanding MediShield Life premiums (including interest and penalties) incurred prior to the date of your Bankruptcy Order.

You are required to pay any MediShield Life premiums incurred after the date of your Bankruptcy Order. Bankrupt parents/guardians remain liable to pay for their child/dependant's premiums.

If you face difficulties paying the premiums, you may apply for Additional Premium Support (APS). APS helps members who cannot pay their MediShield Life premiums after Government subsidies and have limited family support. Find out more information on APS by calling 1800-222-3399 (or +65 6222 3399) from Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.30pm (GMT+8).

The Ministry of Health will assess each APS application to ensure that assistance is provided to members who need financial support. They will notify you of your APS application status.
