Why is Flexi-MediSave only applicable to elderly members aged 60 years old and above?
MediSave is meant to help Singaporeans pay for their more costly medical expenses, especially after retirement. Older Singaporeans usually incur more healthcare expenses as outpatient medical treatments tends to be more expensive for them, while having lower or no income if they have retired. The Flexi-MediSave scheme helps them by allowing them to use MediSave more flexibly to reduce their out-of-pocket expenses for outpatient medical care.
The Ministry of Health (MOH) will regularly review Flexi-MediSave and other financing policies to ensure that outpatient care remains affordable for all Singaporeans.
