Why is MediSave important for self-employed persons?

MediSave can be used for healthcare needs, such as to pay for MediShield Life premiums or hospitalisation cost. It is therefore important that self-employed persons set aside a portion of their income to build up their MediSave savings, in anticipation of their future healthcare needs, especially during old age when they have stopped working.
