What is the simplified rule on the disbursement of unused top-ups?

Currently, cash top-ups made before November 2008 and CPF transfers which are not fully paid out as monthly payouts to recipients are refunded to the givers upon the recipient’s demise.

To simplify rules for members, we are standardising the treatment of all top-ups (cash and CPF transfers). All top-ups will be treated as gifts to recipients. From 1 April 2022, when the recipient passes away, any unused top-ups will be treated as the deceased’s CPF monies and paid to his beneficiaries.
