What is email spoofing?

Email spoofing is a form of cyberattack in which emails are manipulated to make it seem as if they are sent by a trusted source. Email spoofing is used in phishing attempts because people are more likely to open an email when they think it has been sent by a known sender. Email scammers try to trick recipients into opening or responding to the message.
