UnderstandWhat are Self-Help Group (SHG) funds?<p>The SHGs Funds are as follows:</p><ol><li><p>Chinese Development Assistance Council (CDAC) Fund, administered by <a href="http://www.cdac.org.sg/" target="_blank">CDAC</a></p></li><li><p>Eurasian Community Fund (ECF), administered by the Eurasian Association <a href="http://www.eurasians.org.sg/" target="_blank">(EA)</a></p></li><li><p> <a href="http://www.muis.gov.sg/" target="_blank">Mosque Building and Mendaki Fund (MBMF)</a>, administered by Majlis Ugama Islam Singapura (MUIS)</p></li><li><p>Singapore Indian Development Association (SINDA) Fund, administered by <a href="http://www.sinda.org.sg/" target="_blank">SINDA</a></p></li></ol><p>Employees are required to contribute monthly to the SHGs Funds. The SHGs are set up to uplift the less privileged and low income households in the Chinese, Eurasian, Muslim and Indian communities, respectively. The prescribed amount is deducted from the wages of the employees. If the employees wish to contribute a different amount or opt-out, they have to obtain the relevant forms from the respective SHGs.</p>602602
UnderstandWhat is Social Help and Assistance Raised by Employees (SHARE)?<p>SHARE is a monthly giving programme of Community Chest, the fund-raising and engagement arm of the National Council of Social Service. On behalf of Community Chest, the CPF Board collects employee’s donations to SHARE from employee’s wages made through the company payroll.</p><p>Donations by employees are voluntary and deducted from their wages. 100% of the donations are channelled directly to support critical social service programmes and goes towards:</p><ul><li>Building strong and resilient families </li><li>Caring for vulnerable seniors </li><li>Empowering children with special needs and youth-at-risk </li><li>Integrating adults with disabilities into society </li><li>Supporting persons with mental health issues </li></ul>603603

EvaluateIs Contribution to the SHGs Mandatory?<p>All employees (including full-time, casual, part-time, temporary staff) are required to contribute to self-help groups’ funds (CDAC Fund, MBMF, SINDA Fund and ECF). Contribution to the Self-Help group depends on the race and/or religion of the employee which is indicated on the National Registration Identity Card (NRIC).</p><p>However there is an opt-out option, this means that any employee who does not wish to contribute to their respective self-help groups’ funds can submit an opt-out form to the respective agencies.</p><p>For example, if an employee is Chinese-Muslim (race in NRIC is Chinese), he will need to contribute to both Chinese Development Assistance Council Fund (CDAC) and Mosque Building and Mendaki Fund (MBMF) but he can choose to contribute to one and opt-out the other.</p> 769684
EvaluateCan my employees contribute a different amount to the self-help group funds or opt out?<p>If your employee wishes to contribute a different amount or opt out, the employee has to obtain the relevant form from the applicable SHG, submit the form to you for endorsement, before returning the form to the SHG.</p>608608
ApplyHow do I pay my employees’ contributions to the Self-Help Group (SHG) funds and SHARE donations?<p>You can automatically deduct your employees' monthly contributions to the SHG funds and SHARE donations from their wages. This is similar to how you would deduct the employee's share of CPF contributions. </p><p>Thereafter, you can pay the contributions to SHG funds and SHARE donations, together with CPF contributions to CPF Board. </p>609609
