UnderstandWhat is the Silver Support Scheme? <p>The Silver Support Scheme is part of a wider suite of schemes (e.g. healthcare subsidies, GST voucher) that the Government has put in place in recent years to support elderly Singaporeans.</p><p>It provides a quarterly cash supplement to the bottom 20% of Singaporeans aged 65 and older. These are individuals who had low incomes through life and who now have little or no family support.</p><p>Elderly Singaporeans who qualify for Silver Support will automatically receive their cash supplement. UnderstandDo I need to sign up for Silver Support?<p>There is no need to apply for Silver Support.</p><p>The CPF Board will automatically review an elderly Singaporean’s eligibility for Silver Support every year based on data we have on record. Eligible elderly will automatically receive payouts every quarter.</p><p>Elderly Singaporeans who qualify for Silver Support will receive a notification of their Silver Support eligibility in December of the preceding year.</p> Silver Support Scheme24101752
UnderstandDo I qualify for Silver Support?<p>Elderly Singaporeans who qualify for Silver Support will receive a notification of their Silver Support eligibility in December of the preceding year.</p><p>The Silver Support Scheme is meant to support the bottom 20% of Singaporeans aged 65 and above, who had low incomes through life and who currently have little or no family support. To identify this target group, three criteria will be used in tandem – lifetime wages, housing type, and the level of household support.</p><p>Singapore citizens aged 65 and above will be eligible for Silver Support Scheme if they meet all of the following criteria:</p><ol type="A"><li> <b>Low lifetime wages</b> - Total CPF contributions<sup>1</sup> of not more than $70,000 by age 55. Self-employed persons should also have an average annual net trade income<sup>2</sup> of not more than $22,800 when they were between the ages of 45 and 54; and</li><li> <b>Housing type</b> - Live in a 1- to 5-room HDB flat; and does not own, or have a spouse who owns, a 5-room or larger HDB flat or private property or multiple properties; and</li><li> <b>Low household support</b> - Live in a household with a monthly income per person of not more than $1,100.</li></ol><p>The CPF Board will automatically review an elderly Singaporean’s eligibility for Silver Support every year.</p>Silver Support Scheme24111753
UnderstandHow much is the Silver Support payout?<p>Eligible Singaporeans will receive Silver Support payouts of between $300 and $750 every quarter, according to the type of HDB flat that they live in.
