DAVID MOK, CFA, MBA
David Mok is a CFA charterholder and holds a masters degree in business administration from University of Maryland. He comes with over 16 years of investment and industrial experience.
David currently heads a start-up equity fund at Talanton Capital Management that focuses on absolute returns. The company adopts an exciting and unique investment methodology developed by David that harnesses the advantages of fundamental, quantitative and technical disciplines of equity investments. Prior to the fund, he was leading the Trading and Principal Investment department at CIMB-GK with a successful return rate of 21% and -6% for 2007 and 2008 respectively, outperforming the benchmark markets for both years. Instruments traded included equities, derivatives, and futures, across the Asia-ex-Japan markets. At CIMB-GK, the trading of various instruments was both tactical and strategic. Prior to CIMB-GK, David was the Head of Research for Singapore equity at DBS Vickers, where he led the team from 7th to 2nd in Asiamoney Survey during his tenure. Prior to DBS Vickers, he was the senior investment officer with Asia Life Assurance, with team responsibility of investing over S$2.0 billion worth of funds. Before Asia Life, he worked as senior analyst at ValueSearch.com, an independent equity research house, covering technology stocks. In the U.S., David was the only Masters undergraduate of his class to secure an internship at a fund management company, where he subsequently worked as an investment analyst, supporting a clientele of over 100 wealthy individuals. At Fulton Breakefield Broenniman (FBB), a private asset management company in Maryland, David made valuable contributions in the area of asset allocation, where he introduced effective methodology of optimization. It was in Maryland that David obtained his full-time MBA at Smith School of Business, University of Maryland. David is also a CFA charter-holder.
Throughout David’s career, he took time off to periodically engage in community work such as disaster relief, church lay-ministries, temporal adoption, and CFA Institute programs.
Th’ng Beng Hooi, CFA
Mr. Th’ng Beng Hooi, CFA, is Managing Director of A.B. Maximus & Co Pte Ltd. He is concurrently managing the secretariat offices of SGX Academy, CFA Singapore, CFA Malaysia and CFA Indonesia. He was formerly Vice President for Resource Development and Dealing, and Trading Representative with a securities brokerage in Singapore from 1994 to 2005.
Beng Hooi specializes in finance and investment related courses including the CFA programme and securities licensing and continuing education programmes and has been teaching on a part-time basis for various institutions since 1994. A.B. Maximus & Co provides education consultancy and secretariat services since 1997 for various quasi-government and non-for-profit organizations, such as CFA Singapore, Singapore Exchange, Society of Remisiers Singapore, Association for Financial and Commodity Traders Singapore, and Institute Bank-Bank Malaysia.
He has a Chartered Financial Analyst qualification from the CFA Institute, USA and holds a Bachelor of Accountancy degree (Honours 2nd Upper) from the National University of Singapore. He currently serves as the Second Vice President of the Nanyang Technological University Alumni Club and Membership Chair of CFA Singapore.
Tom Yuen (YCK)
Tom Yuen (YCK) is a futures trader with extensive system-based trading and execution experience, and a strong background in quantitative technical analysis. YCK’s futures trading experience spans over 17 years with the first 13 years spent as a floor/pit trader with Singapore International Monetary Exchange (SIMEX), now known as SGX-DT, Local. YCK also has more than 20 years of training and coaching experience in areas ranging from risks and rewards of trading, technical analysis, money management to financial literacy.
Dr. Jeffrey C. K. Lim, Ph.D., C.Sci., C.Math., FIMA, FRM, PRM, B.Fel.
Dr. Jeffrey C. K. Lim, certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM ) and certified Professional Risk Manager (PRM ), is currently the Managing Director of PI ETA Consulting Company, a Treasury & Financial Risk Management Consulting Company.
A Chartered Scientist (C.Sci. ), a Chartered Mathematician (C.Math. ) and an elected Fellow of the Institute of Mathematics and Its Applications (IMA), U.K. (FIMA), Jeff earned his Ph.D. in Stochastic Financial Modeling from the University of Cambridge in England. Jeff’s research interest at Cambridge was in the area of Arbitrage Opportunities occurring in the Mispricing of Financial Options, and his original research culminated in the publication of his doctoral dissertation entitled: “Multi-period Mean-Variance Option Portfolio Strategies”.
Jeff was an authorized Securities & Financial Derivatives Representative in London, having been certified by The Securities and Futures Authority (SFA) in England, where he started his career as a Derivatives Analyst with Nomura International in London, England. He subsequently joined NatWest Markets from London, England to become its Head of Currency Structured Products for South and South-East Asia. Jeff then moved to American Express Bank to become its Director of Structured Products, prior to assuming his current position.
At PI ETA Consulting Company, Jeff was Principal Inventor in two of the Patents that the company currently holds – one in Treasury & Financial Risk Management Systems, and the other in Knowledge Management Systems.
Professionally, Jeff is a Fellow of both The Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP), U.S.A. and The Professional Risk Managers International Association (PRMIA), U.S.A. He is also a Fellow of the Cambridge Philosophical Society, U.K. and a Life-time Member of The Cambridge Society, U.K. Jeff is also honoured to be a Fellow of The Cambridge Commonwealth Society, U.K., having been previously awarded the Cambridge Commonwealth Trust and the Shell Group of Companies Doctoral Research Scholarship.
As a special recognition of Jeff’s professional achievements, on 9 April 1999, Barons Who’s Who conferred Jeff with the Barons Fellowship status, making him a Barons Fellow (B.Fel.). This award by their Charter, is limited to only the top 10% of those selected for publication in Barons Who’s Who International.
