My daily working life...
I was first exposed to policy making from a theoretical angle during my honours year in university. After speaking to several friends who were policy makers in various government ministries, I discovered that contributing to the formulation of government policies was personally fulfilling and meaningful to me. It was something I could picture myself doing for a long time; 50 years of working life! Wow!
Joining the Policy Department was a positive experience as I was given opportunities to formulate CPF policies, put forward arguments in support of it and then witness their implementation.
People around me...
I work in a collegial environment. The encouragement, guidance and patience of my colleagues and bosses are essential in helping me assimilate and become more independent over time. It is a joy working with my colleagues as we look out for one another in a selfless manner. We trust each other. We persevere in the face of challenges and rise above all situations in overcoming barriers to achieve our purpose together!
As part of a close-knitted team, my colleagues and I are deeply gratified when our proposals are implemented successfully and improve the retirement adequacy of CPF members.
Not just about work...
My past 2 years of working in Policy Department was an eye-opener for me. I have grown, not only in terms of knowledge but have also acquired a deeper understanding of what it means to work as a team and give my best for a purpose that is larger than myself!
